TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Hudson Valley Community College highlighted a program on Wednesday they said is helping thousands of students pursue higher education.
The Advancing Success in Associate Pathways program, also known as ASAP, launched last spring across 25 SUNY campuses. Since then, it’s nearly doubled and now serves more than 7,000 students. The program aims to reduce barriers to higher education by providing supports such as financial assistance and advice.
One student who participates in the program shared the impact it’s had on her life.
“Personally, I want to keep growing into the kind of person my kids can be proud of, and careerwise, I want to use my voice to help others feel seen, heard, and supported, just like ASAP did for me,” Myajay Eugene, AA Psychology, Hudson Valley Community College, said.
The New York State Legislature recently passed $12 million in recurring funding to expand the program to other SUNY schools.
