ST. LOUIS – It’s official, Tower Grove Park broke ground on its’ largest building project in over 40 years last week.
On Sept. 25, Tower Grove Park received a $500,000 Save America’s Treasures grant from the National Park Service to refurbish four of its ageing historical Victorian pavilions.
“Through private and public investments, the Save America’s Treasures program supports community-based preservation and conservation work on some of our nation’s most important collections, artifacts, structures and sites for the benefit of future generations,” said National Park Services Director Chuck Sams.
Restoration efforts don’t stop there. The park has begun construction of a new event support building that will house a concessions stand, an expanded catering kitchen, new public restrooms and more.
There will be a large focus placed on revitalizing ageing areas within the park, allowing for more versatility for guests to hold a wider variety of special events.
Tower Grove Park is a National Historical Landmark, originally designed in a Victorian style. All restoration efforts will reflect and match the Parks’ historical aesthetics, including upgrades to underutilized spaces and a new reimaged garden.
