SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — As spooky season creeps closer, the excitement of thrills and chills elevates.
America Haunts, a national association representing professional haunted attractions, recently named a local haunted house as one of the nation’s top five tech-driven haunts in 2025.
The Haunted Trail of Balboa Park was ranked No. 5 on the list.
The attraction first features a 3,500-square-foot eXperiment Maze filled with warped illusions, cult-favorite legends and viral nightmares coming to life like .
Then, guests wander a mile-long Haunted Trail through twisted pines and gnarled oaks of the historic park known as Marston Point.
There is also an all new scare zone called Dark Carnival with roaming monsters, games, photo ops, an expanded BOOtique Gift Shop and bites from local food trucks.
Other haunted attractions that made the list include Netherworld in Atlanta, GA (No. 1); Beast Haunted Attraction in Kansas, MO (No. 2); Bennett’s Curse in Baltimore, MD (No. 3); and Nightmare on 13th in Salt Lake City, UT (No. 4).
