LAKE ZURICH, Ill. — It’s the season we see pumpkin farms popping up all over but one in Lake Zurich stands out larger than life.
Jack-o-Lantern World is a place where pumpkins are as big as cars and every one of them has a story to tell.
To the guy who goes by Pumpkin Pete, it’s paradise.
“We’re sitting here with some of the largest pumpkins in the entire world at the moment,” he said. “We have one here behind me that’s 2,500 pounds. That’s the largest pumpkin in the world that’s been harvested so far this year.”
His chase for the big guys starts early as he tracks down some of the Midwest’s mightiest from farmers.
The pumpkins are carved as much in tribute as tradition with artisans that turns the majestic gords into works of art.
