Glens Falls historic hot dog shop joins state preservation registry

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A staple hot dog joint in Glens Falls has been added to the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry after 106 years in the community. New Way Lunch has solidified itself as one of the top dogs in the Glens Falls community and the state for a Coney Island classic.

John Floro relocated his family from Brooklyn in August 1919 and worked at the upstate restaurant that became known for employing friends and family of the Floro’s family. Now in the hands of Peter and Susan Gazetos and their children, Nicholas and Alexandria, the multigenerational hot dog shop continues serving up its homemade meat sauce over a beef and pork hot dog covered in mustard and chopped onions.

“It’s a great day when over a century of hard work by multiple generations of family members and dedicated employees is celebrated, cherished hometown memories are recollected, and delicious hot dogs, smothered in mouthwatering meat sauce, are hungrily and happily consumed,” said Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner.
