Fowler’s Chocolates partners with FeedMore WNY for Hunger Action Month

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Western New Yorkers can satisfy their sweet tooths while giving back to a local nonprofit this September.

Fowler’s Chocolates is teaming up with FeedMore WNY for Hunger Action Month. For every pound of sponge candy sold in-store or online through the end of the month, Fowler’s will donate $1 to FeedMore.

“September is a pretty special month for us here at Fowler’s because it’s home to National Sponge Candy Day,” said Ted Marks, a process engineer at Fowler’s Chocolates. “We partnered with the City of Buffalo to create it ten years ago and to celebrate, we’re partnering with FeedMore Western New York to provide some support for them.”

Fowler’s is also holding a food drive at its Cheektowaga location. Shoppers who bring a nonperishable food item will receive a 10% discount on their purchase.

“It’s a really sweet partnership, and we’re so grateful that it’s continuing,” said Catherine Shick, the public relations manager for FeedMore WNY. “This is a great way to enjoy sponge candy and know you’re helping fight hunger right here in your own backyard.”

To mark National Sponge Candy Day on Sept. 21, Fowler’s is releasing a limited-edition berry sponge candy flavor featuring blue raspberry sponge covered in milk chocolate and strawberry sponge in dark chocolate. The flavors are available while supplies last.

Whether shoppers try the new flavor or stick with a classic, every purchase supports FeedMore’s mission to keep neighbors from going hungry.
