ST. LOUIS – John Kelly, the former St. Louis Blues broadcaster, has been hired by the Los Angeles Kings for their TV telecasts.
According to the Los Angeles Kings, Kelly will serve as the lead play-by-play announcer on FanDuel Sports Network. He will be joined in the booth by longtime Kings analyst Jim Fox.
Kelly, who spent nearly two decades with the Blues, was let go in July when the team decided to consolidate their broadcast teams. The Blues’ new broadcast model will feature the radio crew, Chris Kerber and Joey Vitale, who will now be seen and heard on both TV and radio.
“They made a decision to go from two broadcast teams to one and in a game of musical chairs I didn’t have a chair,” Kelly told FOX 2 Sports Director Martin Kilcoyne.
Kelly joined the Blues in 2005 after working with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche. Despite his departure, Kelley focused on the positive aspects of his career.
“Instead of focusing on the negative, I focused on the positive, which was 21 great years,” Kelly said.
