TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — This year, Florida has set a record for the number of executions.
Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed more death warrants this year than any of his predecessors, with 11 people being put to death by lethal injection in 2025.
Previously, the highest number of executions in the state was set in 2014, when the then-governor, Sen. Rick Scott, signed eight death warrants.

While three more people are set to be executed this year, here is the current list of people who have been put to death in Florida in 2025.
James Ford
Ford was put to death on Feb. 13 by lethal injection at Florida State Prison in the state’s first execution of the year.
He was convicted of killing Gregory Malnory, 25, and his wife Kimberly, 26, while they were on a fishing trip in 1997 at a sod farm in southwest Charlotte County.

Edward James
James was executed on March 20. He was convicted of killing 8-year-old Toni Neuner and her grandmother, Betty Dick, on Sept. 19, 1993.

Michael Tanzi
Tanzi was put to death on April 8 for the April 2000 abduction and strangling of Janet Acosta, a production worker at The Miami Herald.
Acosta was beaten, robbed, driven to the Florida Keys and then strangled and her body left on an island.

Jeffrey Hutchinson

Hutchinson was executed on May 1 for the 1998 shotgun slayings of his girlfriend, 32-year-old Renee Flaherty, and her three children: 9-year-old Geoffrey, 7-year-old Amanda, and 4-year-old Logan.
All four were killed with a 12-gauge shotgun that was found on a kitchen counter.
Glen Rogers
Rogers, also known as the “Cross Country Killer,” was executed on May 15. He was convicted of killing Tina Cribbs in Gibsonton, Florida, and Sandra Gallagher in California in 1995.
He was also suspected of killing at least two other women and an elderly man in murders across the country.

Anthony Wainwright
Wainwright received a lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke on June 10 for the 1994 raping and killing of 23-year-old Carmen Gayheart.

Thomas Gudinas
Gudinas was put to death by lethal injection on June 24. He was convicted in the May 1994 raping and killing of Michelle McGrath near a Central Florida bar.

Michael Bell
Bell was executed on July 15. He was convicted of fatally shooting Jimmy West and Tamecka Smith outside a bar in 1993 as part of an attempted revenge killing.

Edward Zakrzewski
Zakrzewski was put to death on July 31 after he was convicted of the 1994 killings of his wife and two children.

Kayle Bates
Bates was executed on Aug. 19. He was convicted of abducting Jane White from an insurance office in the Florida Panhandle and killing her in June 1982.

Curtis Windom
Windom was put to death on Aug. 28. He was convicted of killing his girlfriend, Valerie Davis, her mother, Mary Lubin, and Johnnie Lee in Nov. 1992.

Upcoming executions
DeSantis has signed a death warrant for David Pittman, whose execution is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Pittman was convicted of killing his estranged wife’s sister and parents in May 1990.
If Pittman is put to death, Florida would set a record for the most executions in a year.

Two more executions are scheduled for this fall.
Victor Tony Jones is set to die on Sept. 30 for the 1990 killings of two people during a robbery and Samuel Lee Smithers is scheduled for execution on Oct. 14 for the murders of two women in 1996.
