Part of the rain-soaked 5 Freeway was closed early Wednesday morning when a FedEx truck carrying thousands of pounds of packages crashed in Pacoima.
The big rig driver was not injured in the Christmas Eve crash near the De Soto Avenue exit. Some of the 12,000-pounds worth of packages in one of the truck’s two trailers spilled onto the freeway.
The crash damaged a guardrail alongside the freeway.
Northbound lanes were expected to remain closed until about 11 a.m., just south of the 118 Freeway.
The truck crash as heavy overnight rain drenched Los Angeles Freeways. Rain from the multi-day storm is expected to reach its peak Wednesday and continue through Christmas into the weekend.
