BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Dunkirk man died in a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday on State Route 5 in the Town of Portland, New York State Police announced.
Troopers started a pursuit after seeing 44-year-old Joseph Damico driving a Jeep westbound on State Route 5 in Dunkirk, officials said.
The pursuit reportedly ended after six minutes, which is when Damico’s Jeep struck the rear of a Toyota. Both vehicles left the roadway and stopped in a steep drainage ditch, police said.
Damico was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver, who was not identified by police, was not injured.
The Attorney General’s Office is involved in the ongoing investigation.
