Double fatal crash in Schoharie under investigation

SCHOHARIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York State Police are investigating a double-fatal crash that happened early on Sunday off Richard Hill Road in Schoharie. Troopers said they were called to the one-vehicle crash at 12:56 a.m.

Law enforcement responded to the crash at the intersection of Richard Hill Road and Mossy Cliff Lane for a car that had crashed off the road. Troopers said an investigation determined the driver, a 59-year-old man from Kissimmee, Florida, was driving east on Richard Hill Road, left the road, and crashed into a tree before catching fire.

State police said the driver was pronounced dead on the scene, and a 50-year-old woman was rescued from the car by bystanders. The woman was transported to Albany Medical Center and succumbed to her injuries.
