Dog attack in Fremont park leaves small dog dead, police search for suspect

(KRON) — Police in are looking for the owner of an off-leash dog that killed another dog in a Fremont park last month. According to police, the attack took place on Oct. 23 at Central Park near Lake Elizabeth at around 2:40 p.m.

Police said Fremont Animal Services was contacted about a report that a medium-sized off-leash dog attacked a small dog that was walking on a leash with its owner. The small dog was taken to a veterinarian where it succumbed to its injuries.

The off-leash dog, police said, was accompanied by its owner.

Animal services, police said, is working with the owner of the dog that was killed. However, the second dog involved, or its owner, have not been identified.

The exact breed of the larger dog is not known, but it is described as resembling a Cane Corso or pit bull. Police have released a photo of the dog and the people it was with at the time of the attack.
