The Los Angeles Dodgers begin their title defense in earnest on Tuesday, hosting the Cincinnati Reds in the first game of the 2025 postseason for the Boys in Blue.
The No. 3 seed Dodgers face the No. 6 seed Reds in the Wild Card round. The winner of this three-game series advances to face the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Division Series.
Before that, though, the Dodgers must take two of three games, all of which will be played at Chavez Ravine. First pitches are scheduled for 6:08 p.m. Pacific Time for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Blake Snell will start on the mound for the Dodgers on Tuesday.
Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is expected to pitch in either Game 3 of the Wild Card series or the first game of NLDS.
If all goes well, the Dodgers will be competing for back-to-back World Series titles over the next few weeks.
MLB hasn’t seen a back-to-back champion since the New York Yankees three-peated in 1998-2000.
Third baseman Max Muncy told the Los Angeles Times that “there’s a lot of pressure” to repeat as champions.
“For us, the challenge is not letting that pressure get to you and finding our rhythm, finding what’s going to work for us this year,” Muncy said. “Each year the team has to find their identity when they get to this point. You have an identity during the regular season, and you have to find a whole ‘nother identity in the postseason.”
