DUANESBURG, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate threats made by students at Duanesburg High School on September 25 and 30. Deputies said a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old student are accused of making verbal threats to use a firearm in a school setting.
Deputies said other students overheard the two students while they allegedly made the threats and reported it to the school’s administration. Administrators then reached out to the high school security resource office, law enforcement said.
The 16-year-old is accused of making a verbal threat on September 25, while the 15-year-old allegedly made a threat on September 30. Deputies said the district is continuing to investigate the threats, but the early reports from students and the responsive action from the district interrupted any potential threats of violence.
“The reported incidents remain under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Patrol and Investigation Units along with support from the Schenectady County Threat Assessment Management Team,” the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office said. “Further information will be released as it becomes available.”
