Denver weather: Clouds finally lifting from region with warm up to follow

DENVER (KDVR) — The clouds hanging around metro Denver and the Front Range for a second day in a row are on their way out of Denver’s weather forecast.

Temperatures have struggled to reach the 50s and low 60s, which is about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Skies are expected to clear overnight, making for sunny skies for the remainder of the week.

And, with the sunny skies, temperatures are forecast to quickly rise into the 70s and 80s for the rest of the week and weekend.

Weather tonight: Clear and chilly

Under mostly clear skies and a light wind, it will be another chilly night across the eastern plains of Colorado. It will be colder in the mountains, with some areas dipping below freezing.

The wind will be light and from a general southerly direction.

Weather tomorrow: Sunny and much warmer

There may be a few clouds in the high mountain valleys and across the far eastern plains. Denver and the Front Range will have plenty of sunshine.

The wind will be from a drier and warmer direction out of the southwest. Temperatures are expected to quickly warm above normal, reaching the upper 70s and 80s across the entire state.

Looking ahead: More warm days ahead of weekend showers

The warm and sunny conditions will continue through the end of the work week and start of the weekend. The warmest day will be Thursday with readings in the 80s.  An incoming storm from the west will return rain and snow showers to the Colorado mountains by Saturday.

A few of those showers will be possible along the Front Range on Sunday. The metro will dry out again early next week as temperatures cool into more seasonal levels in the upper 60s for Denver.
