More than four decades after a young woman was abducted and murdered, Davie Police are reopening their investigation into the killing with the hopes that new DNA technology will help solve the cold case.
Delores Bailey had reported for her overnight shift at a 7-Eleven at 1600 N. 18th Avenue in Hollywood the night of Jan. 21, 1982.
The 24-year-old was never seen alive again.
Police believe she was abducted during her shift, and she was reported missing.
Nearly 11 months later, on Dec. 8, 1982, a landscaper working in the wooded area of Griffin Road and the Florida Turnpike located skeletal remains.
Dental records later identified the body as Bailey, and the medical examiner determined she’d suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the case a homicide.
Bailey left behind a husband and young son.

Hollywood Police, the Broward Sheriff’s Office, and the Davie Police Department worked on the case for as long as they could and exhausted all leads.
But now, 44 years later, thanks to enhancement in DNA technology and the ability to assist in the identification of possible suspects, the case is being re-opened, police said Thursday.
Police are still hoping the public can help solve the case and a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
