Cubs unveil 2025 Wild Card roster, Game 1 lineup

CHICAGO — On an absolute beautiful day for playoff baseball, the Chicago Cubs unveiled their Wild Card series roster and Game 1 lineup.

The Cubs are starting left-hander Matthew Boyd against Nick Pivetta and the Padres at Wrigley Field at 2:08 p.m.

The Game 1 lineup is as follows. Kyle Tucker, who has been battling a calf injury, is hitting 4th and DH’ing.

  • 2B — Nico Hoerner
  • LF — Ian Happ
  • DH — Kyle Tucker
  • RF — Seiya Suzuki
  • C — Carson Kelly
  • CF — Pete Crow-Armstrong
  • SS — Dansby Swason
  • 3B — Matt Shaw

2025 Wild Card roster

Starters: Matthew Boyd, Shota Imanaga, Jameson Taillon, Colin Rea (Rea likely to be possible opener/long relief)

Bullpen: Drew Pomeranz, Taylor Rogers, Caleb Thielbar, Aaron Civale, Brad Keller, Andrew Kittredge, Daniel Palencia, Michael Soroka

Catchers: Carson Kelly, Moises Ballesteros, Reese McGuire
