Columbia-Greene Habitat for Humanity to open new ReStore location

HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Columbia-Greene Habitat for Humanity will be opening a new ReStore location in Hudson in November. The new space will replace the organization’s current store.

The housing nonprofit’s current ReStore and offices have been located at 829 Route 66 for the past 15 years. In 2023, the Columbia-Greene Habitat for Humanity received a state grant to expand their community service operations and move to a new location.

“We have outgrown the space,” said Sam Stegemann, director of marketing and programs.

The new ReStore will open on November 1 on U.S. Route 9, taking over the space of a former restaurant. Renovations began in the spring and finishing touches are being completed this week.

The store will have its usual discounted furniture, building supplies, housewares, appliances and more, with proceeds going toward Habitat’s building projects. The organization plans to move items over from its current location the week of October 27.

“We call the ReStore a Community Store because it’s for everyone,” Stegemann said. “The average ReStore shopper is someone who loves a good deal. It’s also a fun place to just walk around.”

In addition to the ReStore, the new space will also feature a model house that will serve as both staff offices and as an up-close reference of a Habitat home. A flexible space will also be available for community-focused events.

The new ReStore location will be located at 3521 US-9 in Hudson. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

The current ReStore location will be open until October 25. Donations will be accepted, by appointment, until October 17.
