Colonie Thai restaurant to reopen after 2024 explosion

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Pad Thai Noodle in Colonie is planning to reopen on Friday. The restaurant had previously been destroyed in an explosion in 2024.

Located on Everett Road, Pad Thai Noodle was first opened in 2016. The restaurant was demolished in April 2024 after an overnight natural gas explosion blew off the building’s roof and collapsed the walls.

In November, the restaurant began its rebuilding process. Owner Sarinya Singthon told NEWS10’s Anthony Krolikowski back in February that she had been working seven days a week to pay for the reconstruction.

Now, she calls the upcoming reopening both “emotional” and “rewarding.”

“This place has always been more than just a business to us — it is like a second home,” Singthon told NEWS10. “Seeing familiar faces return and sharing meals together again means so much.”

The restaurant’s new menu will feature most of the same dishes that customers had loved in the past, including Pad Thai, curry and rice dishes. However, there will also be several new additions, such as Thai burritos, poke bowls, bubble tea, Thai street foods and more.

“For us, food is not only about taste, but also about sharing culture, tradition and warmth,” Singthon said. “We want our customers to feel as though they are enjoying a meal prepared for friends and family at home.”

As Pad Thai Noodle gears up for its reopening, Singthon thanks customers for their support and encouragement during the rebuilding process.

“The support we have received from our customers has been overwhelming in the best way,” Singthon said. “We are deeply touched — it has meant so much to us and has given us strength through this journey.”

Pad Thai Noodle is located at 113 Everett Road in Colonie and will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. A full menu can be found on the restaurant’s website.
