CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The City of Chula Vista is searching for people who would like to be involved in their community by helping to beautify the city.
Volunteers are needed for the 22nd annual Beautify Chula Vista Day on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Beautify Chula Vista Day is a collaboration between the city and the South Bay Sustainable Communities Network that is focused on removing graffiti, collecting litter and restoring the appearance of streets, parks and public spaces all over the city.
According to the city, more than 400 volunteers are needed to make the event successful.
Volunteers can choose to either begin their day at Loma Verde Community Center at 1420 Loma Lane or at Chula Vista City Hall at 276 Fourth Ave. They will receive a safety orientation, clean-up supplies and instructions after checking in with event leads.
People who are interested in participating are asked to bring appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes as well as work gloves, a refillable water bottle and food.
Interested volunteers can register at BeautifyChulaVista.org.
