SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — One person was injured in a shooting near several Chollas View schools Tuesday afternoon, prompting police to place them on lockdown.
Students at four schools in the Chollas View neighborhood of San Diego were placed under lockdown just after noon on Tuesday after a shooting in the 1000 block of 47th Street sent one person to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, San Diego Police report.
Chollas Mead Elementary, Gompers Preparatory Academy, Millennial Tech Middle School and Horton Elementary were placed on lockdown, according to the police department. SkyFOX/KUSI in the Sky was overhead the scene and a heavy police presence blocking the road could still be seen in the area as of 2 p.m.
The school lockdowns were lifted as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, police confirmed.

Police report no arrests have been made at this time and released a suspect description. Authorities are actively searching for a black man, in his 30s or 40s, about 5’4″, 140 pounds, possibly wearing a ponytail, dark shirt, black pants, and was last seen leaving the area on an electric scooter.
