Chicago Fire FC are playoff-bound, still have work to do entering final game

Four people were injured in a shooting that sparked a large police presence in Chicago’s Gold Coast on Friday morning, authorities said.

According to police, the shooting happened just before 4 a.m. along North Dearborn Street near West Maple Street when a gray Acura drove by and someone inside opened fire, striking four people on the sidewalk. The vehicle then fled the scene southbound on Dearborn, police said.

A 22-year-old woman was shot in the right leg, a 60-year-old man was shot in the left thigh, a 45-year-old man was shot in the right foot and a 24-year-old man was shot in the right forearm. All were transported to area hospitals in good condition.

Shell casings were seen on the ground and witnesses reported hearing numerous gunshots in the area.

“I’ve heard gunshots before but this was a lot louder,” Colin Schwartz said.

Dearborn Street at West Division Street as police worked on the scene but was later reopened.
