Board of Supervisors approves North County development project

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted to approve the Harmony Grove Village South project in North County with the condition the HOA must provide two fire safety checks a year.

Supporters say they felt the project would bring more jobs to the area and create more housing availability for people.

Meanwhile 1,200 people signed a petition in opposition saying they worried about fire safety dangers, citing the area didn’t have enough access roads to get people out of danger in the event of a wildfire.

“We’re grateful to the Board of Supervisors for their support of Harmony Grove Village South and their commitment to tackling our County’s housing crisis. Today’s vote was a victory for hard-working San Diegans who will soon have the opportunity to own a new home in a beautiful community and live the American dream,” said David Kovach, managing partner of Harmony Grove Village South.

The board approved the project in 2018, but it was followed by years of legal battles and debate.
