Beth Farrell Lorentz wins in tight race in Hamburg

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Republican Beth Farrell Lorentz won in a slim margin Tuesday to beat out Democrat Robert Reynolds Jr. for Hamburg Town Supervisor.

Farrell Lorentz won with just over 50 percent of the vote. Reynolds Jr. received 6,854 votes while Farrell Lorentz received 6,965 votes. The victory will not require a recount because the rules for a recount are .5% or 20 votes, according to the Erie County Board of Elections.

Previously a councilmember, Farrell Lorentz oversaw buildings and grounds and zoning departments and worked on the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program. She will replace Acting Town Supervisor Cathy Rybczynski who took the position after serving as town clerk for over 22 years.
