Ben Johnson provides updates on D.J. Moore after hospitalization

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson provided an update on wide receiver D.J. Moore after he was hospitalized following Monday’s game against the Washington Commanders.

Moore was hospitalized overnight for what the Bears called “precautionary medical attention,” and Johnson provided an update to ESPN Chicago’s Jeff Joniak on Tuesday.

“We got some good news in that regard,” he said. “He should be coming on back today. I think he’ll be day-to-day going forward. It was a groin deal he was dealing with, I think we’re going to be okay.”

It was revealed Tuesday morning that Moore didn’t travel home with the team after the 25-24 win over the Commanders, remaining in Washington overnight for “precautionary medical attention,” according to a statement.

Moore took several hard hits, particularly in the first half of the game, but he continued playing until the end of the contest.

Reporters at Northwest Stadium said Moore was taken via ambulance to a local hospital, with wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle-El accompanying him.

Moore caught three passes for 42 yards in the game, and rushed for 10 yards. On the season, he has 215 receiving yards and one touchdown, along with 25 rushing yards on eight carries.

The Bears will next be in action on Sunday at noon when they welcome the New Orleans Saints to Soldier Field, with the game airing on Fox. Their first injury report of the week will come on Wednesday, and will potentially shed more light on Moore’s status for the game against New Orleans.
