Ben Johnson discusses viral video of shirtless postgame celebration

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson won fans free hot dogs with his iconic postgame celebration, and he discussed the now-viral moment on Monday.

Johnson’s Bears are now 9-3 on the season and own the top spot in the NFC playoff race, and with a huge game coming up Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, he’s helping fans of the team fuel up with free hot dogs at The Wieners Circle on Tuesday.

The restaurant had promised to give away free hot dogs if Johnson took his shirt off during a postgame victory celebration in the team’s locker room, and they’ll pay off that pledge to lucky customers on Tuesday.

During his Monday press conference, Johnson said his daughter saw the shirtless celebration, and that his wife was taken by surprise by the move.

“My 2-year-old was watching the TV screen back at home. She’s pointing at the screen, ‘No shirt, no shirt.’ My wife had no idea what was going on,” Johnson said.

Johnson said he was well aware of the restaurant’s promotion, and that he wanted to be a “man of the people” to help earn fans free hot dogs.

“I think anytime you get a chance to feed the city, you want to do it. So, man of the people,” he said.

Wiener Circle will start handing out the free hot dogs when doors open at 11 a.m., the restaurant told NBC Chicago. They’re planning to be prepared to give away 2,000.

The giveaway comes just over a month after the Lincoln Park restaurant posted a poll on X that would establish the criteria for the next free hot dog giveaway.

Though the dogs may be free of charge, there is still some cost to taking the beef home: time.

When Wiener Circle gave away free hot dogs in September after Caleb Williams threw four touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys, fans waited hours in a line that stretched blocks.
