Beer honoring veterans relaunches at Adirondack Brewery

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10)– Adirondack Brewery is relaunching its limited edition special blonde IPA, DD-214, to honor veterans. The beer, made by veterans for veterans, first launched in 2020.

DD-214 is named after the military discharge paperwork given to service members after they leave the armed forces. The beer features hints of citrus and pine, with a smooth and refreshing finish.

“DD-214 is more than just a beer; it’s a story of camaraderie, service, and gratitude for those who served in the military,” said Adirondack Brewery Owner John Carr.

The beer was created by Adirondack Brewery brewer Bob Shafer, a U.S. Air Force veteran, as a way to honor those who have served in the military. This release was made by Shafer and 20 other veterans in a special brewing session.

“We’re honored to have Bob on our staff and to have these veterans join us to brew this special beer. We’re grateful for their service and sacrifice,” Carr said. “DD-214 represents the strength of our nation’s veterans, and we are proud to support them.”

According to the brewery, a potion of the batch will be donated to the Lake George American Legion Post 374. The remaining beer will be available at the pub starting Thursday, on draft and in cans.

Veterans who visit the pub for lunch or dinner on Sunday, November 9 will receive a complimentary 4-pack of DD-214 to-go. The brewery is located at 33 Canada Street and open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
