Bears or Packers? Here’s how you voted on rivalry’s epic playoff clash

You might have heard a little something about a friendly football game that’s taking place Saturday night at Soldier Field.

A Bears-Packers playoff game? Seriously?

Seems like kind of a big deal.

In this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X, we asked which rival will win.

“At some point, rivals need to take a step,” @DanStarzec commented. “Bulls beat the Pistons, Hawks took down the Red Wings, Cubs blasted the Cardinals — now it’s the Bears’ time.”

Wrote @marcosg23909550, “I picked the Packers only because I’m a known jinx.”

Smart move. What could go wrong?

Next, we asked what about the Bears creates the most confidence in them: their offense, their defense, coaching or home-field advantage?

“Offense,” @pjotoole2013 answered.

“Whoever voted for defense should have to explain themselves,” @NecessaryPause observed.

Last, we wanted to know how far the Bears will go in the playoffs. The divisional round — meaning two games in all — received the most votes.

On to the polls:

Poll No. 1: Bears. Packers. Playoffs. It’s really happening! Who wins?

Upshot: It’s a little something called the power of positive thinking, right? Coach Ben Johnson undoubtedly would approve.

Poll No. 2: What part of the Bears gives you the most confidence going into Saturday’s playoff game?

Upshot: You think Johnson is highly thought of among Bears fans now? Just imagine if he vanquishes the dreaded Cheeseheads. Then again, that’s why the man is here.

Poll No. 3: How far in the playoffs will the Bears go?

Upshot: Just getting to the dance isn’t enough. See: the 2018 Bears. No one needs to remind you how all that turned out.
