Bears' injury report features updates on Rome Odunze, Luther Burden

The Chicago Bears were back on the practice field Wednesday as they get set for a huge showdown with the Green Bay Packers.

As a result, the team now has a better idea of how things are progressing on the injury front for several key players, but the news Wednesday was less than ideal.

That’s because wide receiver Rome Odunze, who has missed the team’s last two games with a foot injury, was not on the practice field at Halas Hall. Neither was wide receiver Luther Burden III, who left Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns early with an ankle injury.

Missing out on two key wide receivers would be a tough blow for the Bears’ offense, with the team having a golden opportunity to grab a stranglehold on the NFC North and move a step closer to a playoff berth if they can win on Saturday.

Linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga was also out of practice for a second straight day, according to the Bears.

The one bit of good news came for defensive lineman Andrew Billings, who returned to the team after missing Tuesday’s walk-thru with an illness.

Running back Travis Homer, who would have been limited Tuesday with an ankle injury, was a full participant in on-field work Wednesday.

Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who is still on injured reserve with a groin injury, was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice, as was tight end Cole Kmet, who suffered ankle and knee injuries during Sunday’s game against the Browns.

One noteworthy addition to the report was running back D’Andre Swift, who was limited Wednesday with a groin injury.

On the Packers’ side of the ledger, pass rushing star Micah Parsons was officially placed on injured reserve, robbing the team of a critical piece ahead of their rematch with the Bears.

Running back Josh Jacobs also missed practice Wednesday for a second straight day, though wide receiver Christian Watson did return in a limited capacity as he works through chest and shoulder issues that knocked him out of Sunday’s loss to the Denver Broncos.
