Bears' injury report features updates on Jaylon Johnson, TJ Edwards

The Chicago Bears released their latest injury report Thursday, and it featured a key update on cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

While there was some bad news on the injury front, Johnson was able to practice in full as he looks to come back from a groin injury that landed him on injured reserve earlier this season.

Johnson has only appeared in one game this season for the Bears, and hasn’t played since September 14 against the Lions. He rejoined the team for practice last week, and could suit up for Chicago when they face the Steelers on Sunday.

On the other side of the coin, the Bears’ linebacker corps has been decimated by injuries so far this week. Tremaine Edmunds (groin), TJ Edwards (hand/hamstring), and Noah Sewell (elbow) were all out of practice today for the second straight day.

Edmunds registered nine tackles and a pass defended against the Vikings last week, and has 89 combined tackles on the season for the Bears.

Edwards has missed the team’s last two games due to his injuries, and may miss a third straight week as he continues to deal with multiple injuries.

Sewell had 10 combined tackles against the Vikings on Sunday, and has a total of 55 combined tackles on the season, along with three tackles for loss.

Running back Travis Homer, dealing with a pair of leg injuries, didn’t practice after being a limited participant on Wednesday.

Offensive lineman Joe Thuney got a rest day, and running back Roschon Johnson was added to the injury report, missing the workout with a thumb injury.

Offensive linemen Theo Benedet (quad) and Drew Dalman (knee) were limited in practice, as were defensive backs Kyler Gordon (calf) and Tyrique Stevenson (hip/calf).

Gordon’s 21-day window to return from injured reserve was opened this week, though his status for Sunday’s game against the Steelers remains up in the air.

Jaquan Brisker returned to practice after missing Wednesday with a shoulder injury. Kevin Byard and Grady Jarrett, both of whom got rest days on Wednesday, were listed as full participants, as was running back D’Andre Swift, who was limited with a hip injury.

The Bears and Steelers will get things underway at noon on Sunday at Soldier Field, with the game airing on Fox.
