Bears coach Ben Johnson said Wednesday that nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon’s groin injury “didn’t look good” and the team is unsure whether it will get him back this season. If he goes on injured reserve, he would be out the rest of the regular season and eligible to return for a potential playoff game.
Gordon has played just three games this season and has been out with three separate injuries. He had a hamstring shortly before the season opener and missed the first four games, then came back for two before going on injured reserve with a calf injury.
He played 36 snaps in the win over the Eagles and was healthy in practice leading up to the Packers game, but hurt his groin during warmups and was ruled out shortly before kickoff.
The Bears have played veteran C.J. Gardner-Johnson, a nickel and safety, in his place after signing him midseason.
Gordon signed a three-year, $40 million contract extension in the offseason that runs from 2026 through ’28. He has seven tackles and one fumble recovery.
