The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon has named NBC4 and Telemundo 52 as its new broadcasting partners, kicking off with the 2026 marathon on March 8. The partnership will continue through at least the 2029 event. This partnership ensures that audiences across Southern California and beyond can experience every inspiring moment in both English and Spanish. Coverage will span across the stations’ broadcast, digital and streaming platforms to deliver local and national viewership opportunities.
“The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon is one of the great marathons of the world and NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s suite of platforms allows us the national reach we haven’t previously had,” said Murphy Reinschreiber, COO of The McCourt Foundation, the producer of the marathon. “With the Olympics coming to Los Angeles, the marathon being an iconic Olympic sport, and NBC4 being the Olympic partner, what better relationship could we have? Adding Telemundo 52 as an outlet is especially gratifying as 38% of the marathon’s participants are Hispanic.”
Led by award-winning filmmaker Jon Dunham, The McCourt Foundation has co-produced the marathon’s live programming for the last five years, winning an Emmy nomination for the 2024 broadcast. Starting in 2026, one change that viewers will immediately notice is the relocation of the commentary desk from a studio setting to right in the middle of the action at the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon finish line. Manning the desk will be the marathon’s legacy commentator Toni Reavis, returning for his 41st year, along with three-time Olympian Deena Kastor. This location change will allow the broadcast to match the energy and atmosphere from the thousands of spectators at the finish line.
“It takes a highly skilled and dedicated team to create live coverage of a major city marathon. We are excited to work with KNBC and Tata Communications, to deliver the highest quality broadcast,” said Dunham. “The production will be supported by NBC4 and take place at Tata Communications’ facility The Switch @ Victory Studios. Adam Schneider of SportFive facilitated our relationship with NBC4 and Telemundo 52 and will be exploring international distributions.”
“Partnering with the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon allows us to celebrate one of the city’s most iconic events and deliver coverage that reflects the diversity of Southern California,” said Todd Mohktari, President & General Manager, Telemundo 52 & NBC4. “Through NBC4 and Telemundo 52, along with our digital and streaming platforms, we’re proud to deliver every inspiring moment in both English and Spanish, connecting communities and making this world-class event accessible to all.”
The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon is Los Angeles’ largest and longest-running community event. The sold-out field of over 25,000 runners will tackle the marathon’s bucket-list Stadium to the Stars racecourse starting at Dodger Stadium and finishing near Avenue of the Stars in Century City. More than a marathon, the race weekend also includes the LA 5K Saturday, March 7, and the marathon’s two-day Lifestyle Expo March 6 and 7 with both events held at Dodger Stadium. Free to enter and free to park, the expo is open to the to the public and features the official race merchandise store, and up to 100 exhibitors with more than 70,000 attendees expected.
