Alleged domestic battery suspect flees from Kendall County Courthouse

KENDALL COUNTY, Ill. (WGN) — Authorities in Kendall County are looking for an alleged domestic violence suspect who ran away from the courthouse on Tuesday, police said.

Rayvon Johnson, 32, allegedly fled from the courthouse, located in the 800 block of John Street, shortly after 11 a.m. after authorities attempted to take him into custody on a domestic violence warrant for failing to appear.

The sheriff’s office says Johnson came into the courthouse on an unrelated matter, and as deputies screened him in, it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

The warrant is related to a 2022 domestic violence case where he pleaded guilty to domestic battery causing bodily harm, police say. He hit a relative in the head, causing hearing loss.

Court records from Will County show the suspect is a convicted felon with a handful of priors including firearms related charges, burglary and obstruction.

Johnson was last seen heading east from the courthouse on foot. He is 6’2″, weighs between 150 and 160 lbs. and does not appear to pose an immediate public safety threat, according to police.

Investigators say they have reason to believe he may have left the area. Earlier today, the sheriff’s office said it was working with law enforcement partners, utilizing K9 teams and drones.

Anyone with information can call police at 630-553-5856.
