MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Two Albany residents are accused of being the ones who left a dog mom tied to a bench and her puppies in a box in Menands. Jonathan Lugo, 34, and Silva Freeland, 46, both face seven counts of torturing or injuring animals, seven counts of abandonment of an animal, and one count of conspiracy.
According to police, the mother dog was found tied to a bench in the area of 85 Broadway overnight without food or water. Six 4-week-old puppies were also reportedly found nearby in a cardboard box.
The Menands Police Department said all of the dogs are currently in good health. The suspects are scheduled to be arraigned on October 8.
