Alaska Airlines fights grounded out of O'Hare, nationwide due to IT outage

All Alaska Airlines flights were grounded Thursday afternoon due to an IT outage, the company said.

Around 6:21 p.m. Thursday, the airline posted to social media advising customers of the issue and suggesting anyone flying that night check their flight status before heading to the airport.

The airline sent a statement to NBC Chicago regarding the outage, reiterating what was said on social media: “Alaska Airlines is experiencing an IT outage affecting operations. A temporary ground stop is in place. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The ground stop affects Alaska Airlines flights at all airports nationwide.

Alaska Airlines services the Chicago area via the O’Hare International Airport.
