A.J. Brown on Friday afternoon clarified his answer from Thursday night when asked about a meeting with Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts during the week.
After the Eagles’ loss to the Giants, Brown was asked about the reported conversation between the three stars and said, “I don’t recall a meeting. I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Brown sent out this tweet on Friday:
OK, so it sounds like Brown pushed back on the idea of the conversation being a “meeting” or a “sit-down” because it was more casual than that. The initial report from Jimmy Kempski at PhillyVoice characterized it as a “long, positive conversation” that “lasted a couple hours.”
So if we take Brown at his word, his answer on Thursday night had more to do with the characterization of that conversation as opposed to the content. That makes some sense.
Because both Barkley and Hurts, while downplaying it, at least acknowledged it.
“Yeah, it’s just us talking about the collective, talking about taking ownership for what we can and talking about how we move forward as a team so we continue to find ways to win games,” Hurts on Tuesday. “It’s really just teammates being teammates. I don’t want to make this about that.”
Maybe we can close this mini chapter of the 2025 Eagles because there are still plenty of problems with the offense to fix if the Eagles want to get back on track after losing back-to-back games to the Broncos and Giants.
After playing on Thursday Night Football, the Eagles have a mini bye week and will face the Vikings in Minnesota and will then host the Giants before their real bye week in Week 9.
