Senior Executive Recruiter at LHH/Parker and Lynch
LHH is looking for a hands-on Controller to oversee the accounting operations of a privately held, multi-entity organization in the restaurant industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys managing both the day-to-day and strategic aspects of finance in a small but dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in GAAP accounting, experience leading a close process, and comfort working with accounting software and database tools. The company has a long-standing presence in the restaurant space and values operational efficiency, internal controls, and timely, accurate financial reporting. Candidates with experience in small office settings, particularly in the hospitality or retail sector, will thrive in this role.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and perform monthly close of consolidated financials for multiple entities
- Prepare monthly financial statements for both internal management and external stakeholders
- Coordinate with external CPA firm for annual financial reviews and certifications
- Supervise accounts payable and payroll processing
- Oversee vendor invoicing, payment resolution, and vendor pricing negotiations
- Maintain and monitor internal accounting controls
- Ensure compliance with tax reporting and payment requirements (sales tax, payroll tax, property tax, income tax)
- Evaluate and manage company medical benefits plan rollout annually
- Create and maintain financial models, reports, and queries using Excel, Access, and SQL
- Maintain and leverage accounting systems (Sage 50 or similar) for financial data management
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with small-office accounting environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
- Experience with Access and SQL essential; Sage 50 (formerly Peachtree) or similar accounting software experience desired
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines (4-day close cycle)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
