Sound of squealing tires leads to arrest of driver doing donuts at Burbank intersection

The sounds of screeching tires and a sighting from a police helicopter led to the arrest of a driver who was performing donuts at a Burbank intersection.

An officer was working patrol when he heard the telltale sound coming from the area of East Tujunga Avenue and South Third Street, Burbank police told NBC4 Investigates. A Burbank Police Department helicopter responded and saw a white sedan performing donuts in nearby intersections.

Officers found the white 2012 Lexus IS and contacted the 19-year-old driver, who was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, a misdemeanor. The case will be submitted to the Burbank City Attorney’s Office for review and possible charges.
