An investigation is underway after an argument between brothers led to one fatally stabbing the other at a home in Miami Wednesday night, police said.
The incident happened at around 8:30 p.m. at a home in the area of Northwest 5th Court and 57th Street in Little Haiti.
Officers found the man with an apparent stab wound to his arm. He was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, but did not survive, police said.
NBC6 obtained surveillance video which shows a man in handcuffs being escorted from the home by police. Moments later, another video showed the victim on a stretcher being placed into an ambulance.
Miami Police later confirmed that the incident involved two brothers who’d been involved in an argument.
“One of the brothers may have charged at the other brother, at which point the other brother was stabbed,” Miami Police spokesperson Kiara Delva said.
Police confirmed that the surviving brother was detained for questioning. It’s unknown if he’ll face charges, and police said they’re working to determine whether the stabbing was done in self-defense.
Neighbors did not want to speak on camera but said they heard arguing coming from the home. One person confirmed they heard sounds of a struggle and things being knocked over.
