
A march organized by a right-wing influencer is planned for Saturday, Jan. 17 in Minneapolis, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune. The event “is organized by conservative influencer Jake Lang, who has been advertising the march on X. In a post, he called for ‘crusaders’ to ‘take back’ Minnesota from Democrats. … Minneapolis Police Inspector Bill Peterson reassured residents at Tuesday’s meeting in Minneapolis that they have prepared for the event. He also noted the city is ‘hyper aware’ that the Cedar Riverside neighborhood could be a target.”
“The Federal Bureau of Investigation says one person has been arrested for allegedly stealing government property out of an FBI vehicle in north Minneapolis amid protests following the shooting of a man by a federal agent on Wednesday night,” reports MPR News. “Video from the scene after the shooting Wednesday night showed people opening unmarked government vehicles and taking out documents and other items.”
A raid on a Minneapolis apartment building on Thursday was connected to items stolen out of FBI vehicles targeted the wrong apartment, WCCO reports. “A copy of the search warrant left behind lists the name of a man living at 2926. Mail for Porter lists her address as 2928 Apt 2. An ATF spokesperson said they could not provide comment due to the ‘ongoing nature of this operation,’ but confirmed the agency executed a search warrant in Minneapolis on Thursday.”
“The Department of Homeland Security will soon possess the home addresses, social security numbers and employment eligibility status of Hennepin Healthcare’s workers,” KARE 11 reports. Hennepin Healthcare sent a statement to the news outlet, which reads in part: “On January 8, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a subpoena / summons to begin an inspection of our organization’s I-9 forms. Employers are required by law to verify employees’ identity and employment eligibility using an I-9 form, and the agency is legally authorized to inspect this information. Hennepin Healthcare follows federal regulations to properly verify employment eligibility and has supplied the information required by the subpoena.”
