Editor’s note: Following the San Francisco 49ers’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, the Bears will welcome the Los Angeles Rams to Soldier Field. Find the latest details here.
Chicago Bears fans are set to party on Saturday after their stunning win over the Green Bay Packers, but bigger goals remain on the horizon.
The Bears were down 21-6 as the fourth quarter got underway, and they scored 25 points en route to a 31-27 victory over the Packers, their first playoff win over their famed rival since the 1941 season.
So the big question after Caleb Williams and company pulled off the historic comeback is this: who do they play next?
The one thing we know for sure is that the Bears will be playing a home game when the NFC Divisional Round gets underway next weekend, as they’ll take advantage of being the No. 2 seed in the conference for the game.
The thing we don’t know is who they will play, but there are two potential options.
After the Los Angeles Rams’ win over the Carolina Panthers on Saturday night, the Bears could potentially play the Rams in the second round of the postseason. That would require the San Francisco 49ers to beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
If the Eagles end up beating the 49ers, the Rams would then have to play the Seattle Seahawks, and the Bears would play the Eagles in a rematch of their Black Friday showdown, with this game being played at Soldier Field.
For those keeping track, the Bears have played the Eagles four times in the playoffs in their history, going 1-3 in those games. They have lost the last two games they’ve played against Philadelphia, both of which were contested at Soldier Field. That includes the 2018 Wild Card Round game, with Cody Parkey missing a field goal at the horn to seal the loss for Chicago.
The Bears have played the Rams twice in the playoffs, losing in a 1950 divisional game and shutting out Los Angeles 24-0 in the 1986 NFC Championship Game.
The 49ers and Eagles will square off at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, with the game airing on Fox.
