A South Plantation High School music teacher was arrested for alleged inappropriate conduct with a student, records showed.
Christopher George Santanelli, 42, was arrested Thursday by Plantation Police on a charge of authority figure engaging in a romantic relationship with a student, Broward jail records showed.

The Plantation Police Department was made aware of the relationship between Santanelli and the student, who is an adult, on Dec. 22, police officials said Thursday.
The victim told police that Santanelli hugged and kissed them, gave them gifts, and that the two exchanged text messages, officials said.
NBC6 was working to learn more details about the allegations.
Online records show Santanelli is a music teacher and choir director at the school.
A message sent by the school’s principal to families on Thursday morning informed them of the arrest.
“This morning, Thursday, January 8th, prior to the start of classes, one of our teachers was arrested by the Plantation Police Department. Due to the ongoing case, I am not able to provide additional details. Please know the individual has been reassigned away from our school and students pending the outcome of the matter,” the message said. “Providing our students with high-quality learning opportunities in a safe, secure environment is always our priority. We appreciate your continued support.”
