Flights cancelled at Miami International Airport following strikes in Venezuela

Flights have been impacted at Miami International Airport following U.S. military strikes in Venezuela and the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro.

The airport said in a statement: “Due to restricted airspace near Venezuela and parts of the Caribbean, some flights at MIA are being affected. Please check your flight status with your airline before heading to MIA. We thank you for your patience and understanding.”

JetBlue said in a travel alert that it would waive change and cancellation fees and fare differences for customers traveling Saturday, January 3, through Sunday, January 4, 2026, to/from the following cities:

  • Aguadilla, Puerto Rico (BQN)
  • Antigua (ANU)
  • Aruba (AUA)
  • Bonaire (BON)
  • Bridgetown, Barbados (BGI)
  • Curaçao (CUR)
  • Georgetown, Guyana (GEO)
  • Grenada (GND)
  • Ponce, Puerto Rico (PSE)
  • Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago (POS)
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU)
  • St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands (STX)
  • St. Lucia (UVF)
  • St. Maarten (SXM)
  • St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands (STT)”

Southwest said its service to the following may be disrupted on Saturday, Jan. 3:

  • Aruba, Aruba (AUA)
  • Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ) 
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU)

American Airlines said its travel alert would affect:

  • Anguilla Wallblake, Anguilla (AXA)
  • Antigua, Antigua (ANU)
  • Argyle, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVD)
  • Aruba, Aruba (AUA)
  • Beef Island, British Virgin Islands (EIS)
  • Bonaire, Bonaire (BON)
  • Bridgetown, Barbados (BGI)
  • Curacao, Curacao (CUR)
  • Fort de France, Martinique (FDF)
  • Grenada, Grenada (GND)
  • Melville Hall, Dominica (DOM)
  • Pointe-a-Pitre, Guadeloupe (PTP)
  • Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago (POS)
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU)
  • St. Croix Island, U.S. Virgin Islands (STX)
  • St. Kitts, Saint Kitts and Nevis (SKB)

Delta also said that it “began cancelling flights early Saturday morning in compliance with FAA airspace closures in the Caribbean.”
