The Chicago Bears are NFC North champions, but there’s still plenty of work to do as they face the San Francisco 49ers.
Thanks to the Green Bay Packers’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, the Bears have captured their first NFC North title since the 2018 season, and have locked up a home playoff game at Soldier Field in early January.
Even with that division title in their possession, the Bears are still trying to perhaps capture the top seed in the NFC for the playoffs, and that quest continues with a tough matchup against the 49ers in Santa Clara on Sunday night.
Here’s what to know about the game, and where the Bears currently sit in the postseason standings.
What time do the Chicago Bears play today?
Kickoff between the Bears and 49ers, live from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, will take place at 7:20 p.m.
What channel is the game on?
Sunday’s matchup between the two teams will air live on NBC Chicago, and will also stream on Peacock.
Where are the Bears in the standings?
Thanks to the Packers’ loss on Saturday, the Bears have captured the NFC North title, and as a result they are guaranteed a top-four seed and a home playoff game.
If the Bears were to win one more game this season, or if the Philadelphia Eagles were to lose a game, Chicago would end up securing at least the No. 2 seed in the NFC, which would mean they could host at least two playoff games if they could advance.
The Bears are still trying to perhaps seize the top spot in the NFC, but they would need some help, as the Seattle Seahawks are one game ahead of Chicago with two games to play. The Seahawks play the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon in Charlotte.
The Bears also have an identical record to the Los Angeles Rams, who are currently in the No. 6 spot in the NFC.
Who could the Bears play in the postseason?
The Bears will ultimately play either the second or third wild card team in the NFC, with the No. 5 seed likely playing the winner of the NFC South, as the Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers square off for that crown.
As a result, the Bears will in all likelihood play either the third-best team in the NFC West, or they would face the Packers, who are now locked into the No. 7 seed in the NFC with one game left to play.
If the Bears were to somehow get the top seed in the NFC, they would end up playing the lowest seeded team remaining in the postseason in the Divisional Round.
