All eyes are on the health San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle ahead of a huge game against the Chicago Bears.
Kittle suffered a sprained ankle in his team’s win over the Indianapolis Colts on Monday, and he was unable to practice due to the injury throughout the week.
Though Sunday’s game won’t take place until 7:20 p.m., multiple NFL insiders have given their takes on whether they believe Kittle will be able to suit up for the 49ers against the Bears.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, sources indicate that it is “highly unlikely” that Kittle will be able to play against Chicago on Sunday.
While NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says he would be surprised if Kittle were able to play, he does report that he expects the tight end to at least try to work out the ankle in pregame warm-ups, and described Kittle as a game-time decision.
In 10 games for the 49ers this season, Kittle has 52 receptions for 599 yards and seven touchdowns, and he’s been especially effective as of late, with 15 catches for 203 yards and a pair of scores in his last two games combined.
The 49ers and Bears will square off at Levi’s Stadium Sunday night, with the game airing on NBC Chicago.
