A Florida man working as a Salvation Army bell ringer was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly tried to assault the manager of a grocery store.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said 63-year-old Steven Pavlik had “tried his hand at some part-time Christmas charity work — however, drunk ringing, belligerent tidings and assualt [sic] took him from bell duty to booking blotter after a full blown charity tirade.”
Pavlik was stationed at a collection site at the Publix on Kanner Highway, authorities said.

But instead of collecting donations, the suspect allegedly “acted more like bad santa,” became intoxicated on duty and aggressively confronted passerby, “creating a major disturbance outside the store.”
When the manager approached to speak to him, Pavlik allegedly turned violented and tried to impale him “with the donation kettle tripod.”
No one was injured, and Pavlik took off.
He was later arrested at his home and booked into the Martin County Jail on charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
