Multiple people were injured in an explosion at a nursing home in Bristol, Pennsylvania.
The explosion occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 23, around 2:15 p.m. at the Silver Lake Nursing Home on 905 Tower Road. According to the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department, the explosion and fire occurred in the basement of the building.
The fire reached two alarms, officials said. Multiple people were injured during the incident, according to a Bucks County spokesperson. Officials have not yet revealed the amount of people who were hurt or their conditions.
The explosion and fire caused the building to partially collapse. Firefighters from Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania as well as Burlington County in New Jersey responded to the scene.
A nurse who works at the nursing home told NBC10 there is normally around 50 people inside the building at a time and the nursing home residents range in age from 50 to 95. She also said she normally arrives to work at 2 p.m. but happened to be late on Tuesday.
“The building can be renovated, rebuilt, but humans cannot be rebuilt,” the nurse said. “You can’t so I don’t want my brain to even go that way. I just pray that we all come out of this in one piece.”
