A Chicago Department of Motor Vehicles facility unexpectedly closed mid-day Thursday due to “unforeseen circumstances,” the Secretary of State announced on social media.
Around 2:30 p.m., the Chicago South DMV facility, located at 9901 South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, closed for the remainder of the day, according to a post on X by Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias.
The Chicago South location requires appointments, meaning anyone scheduled after 2:30 p.m. Thursday will have to make a new appointment.
The DMV reopen Friday, Giannoulias said.
