No tickets captured the top prize in Saturday’s Powerball drawing, sending the next jackpot soaring.
The jackpot will be over the $1 billion mark when the game is drawn again this week, and here’s what you’ll need to know.
What was the result of Saturday’s drawing?
The winning numbers in the Saturday drawing were 1-28-31-57-58, with a Powerball number of 16.
No tickets matched all six of the numbers, though there were two winners of a $2 million prize in North Carolina and Pennsylvania, along with five $1 million-winning tickets, including one sold in Michigan.
What is the next jackpot up to?
The next jackpot will start at $1.1 billion, and could rise higher depending on the number of tickets sold.
How does the Powerball game work?
Powerball tickets cost $2 apiece, with an option $1 “Power Play” add-on available for the game that multiplies non-jackpot prizes in the game.
Players can either choose five numbers between 1-and-69 and a red Powerball for the game, or they can have a computer choose the numbers for them.
There are multiple levels of prizes in the game, starting with a $4 prize for matching the Powerball. Matching five numbers without the Powerball nets the winner $1 million, and matching all five numbers and the Powerball secures the jackpot.
Where does this jackpot rank among the largest of all time?
This will be the seventh Powerball jackpot worth more than $1 billion in the history of the game, and the first since a $1.79 billion jackpot was split between two players in September 2025.
The largest Powerball jackpot of all time was won in November 2022 by a single ticket sold in California, with a $2.04 billion jackpot awarded.
The winner of the drawing chose the lump sum payment option of nearly $1 billion.
When is the next drawing?
The next drawing for Powerball will take place on Monday night at 10 p.m. Central.
