A 27-year-old Florida man was killed in a crash along the Vine Street Expressway in Center City Philadelphia at Broad Street on Monday morning, police said.
In an afternoon update, police said that the incident happened at about 9:57 a.m., when a dark-colored Toyota Corolla, driven by a 27-year-old man from Florida, collided with the rear of a utility truck that had come to the stop of the center lane of eastbound I-676 near Broad Street.
According to police, the Corolla was traveling at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred and the man behind the wheel was pronounced at the scene.
As spotted from NBC10’s SkyForce10 chopper, traffic was redirected along the Vine Street Expressway headed eastbound at North Broad Street at about 11 a.m. on Monday as crews worked to clear a crash from that area.
An investigation into this incident is ongoing, officials said.
